At this year's 8th grade retreat, we asked the youth to name what they think will be their biggest pressures in high school and how they will deal with them.
Pressure How to deal with them
Drugs 1.  Because, it leads you to a bad path in life.  Don’t hang out with the wrong crowd.
2. Never do that and stay away from people who do it.
3.  Don't take them no matter what, no exceptions.
Gangs 1.  Stay away from people who may pressure you.
Sex 1.  Practice abstinence.
2.  Not have it until you're married.
Alcohol 1.  Don't take them no matter what, no exceptions.
Gossiping 1.  Don't spread or start rumors about people even if you know them or not.
Drama 1.  If someone has a problem with you don't physically attack them, instead confront them.
2.  Try not to do anything dumb or let any secrets out, don't gossip about people.
Boys 1.  To make your other priorities first and boys last.
Grades 1.  To stay on track and don't let things throw you off your path.
2.  School work/homework comes first.
Girls/sports 1.  Spend equal time with them.
Peer Pressure 1.  Don't fall into it.
2.  Be yourself, don't listen to what other people want you to do.
Relationships 1.  If you're going to date, date people who stay out of trouble, stay pure.
Steroids 1.  Don't take them because you're lying to yourself about how good you are.  If you want to take steroids bad enough then work hard for it and do it naturally.  You'll be better and people will think higher of you.
